BFPO - Services being cut

6.32.44pm GMT Thu 21st Jan 2010

Sal Brinton, Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Watford urges people to support a campaign to save British Forces Post Office (BFPO) services throughout Europe.

BFPO have been asked to deliver budget savings that have to be made by the 30th September 2010. The savings have meant that BFPO services to places like Germany will be cut and families and friends of service people serving in places other than frontline, like Iraq and Afghanistan, will have to pay to send their loved ones.

Sal Brinton said: 'The BFPO is such an invaluable service for personnel serving their country. It can get stretched at times, but it should not be cut, we must respect what it is therefore - delivering families post. Service personnel deserve a better deal. I hope residents here in Watford will join me by signing the petition but will also write to the minister to express their concern and support for the service.

Sal concluded: 'There should be one service for all our servicemen and women, where ever they are serving.'
